Hi, my name is Lizzy Larson, and welcome to C’est la Vie! This will be a weekly feature in The Record throughout the semester and will provide a first-person perspective on studying abroad. This semester, I’m studying in Aix-en-Provence in the south of France. I arrived on Aug. 29, and so far my host mom has welcomed me with open arms and great food. I decided to study abroad because I have wanted to learn French since I was little, and although I took French in high school and college, I was unable to minor in it or go further in my studies of French since I am a double major in English and communication. However, with the study abroad program I am participating in, I receive major credit from Wheaton for some of my classes, and obviously — hopefully — my French will greatly improve while I am immersed in the culture and living with a host family. If you want to read more about my experience in France, or if you’re a blog junkie, feel free to check out my blog, thingssheoughttounderstand.wordpress.com. Below is the view from the balcony that is right off of my room. I think it’s going to be a good semester
