Photography Exhibit Views Beauty Through the Eyes of the Blind

The intimate exhibit by Sophie Calle is now part of the Art Institute’s permanent collection.
 
In 1986, the French conceptual artist and photographer Sophie Calle visited a school for the blind in Paris and asked students about their conceptions of beauty. Shortly after, Calle photographed her subjects and framed quotes from her interviews to display as an exhibit.
