In the rainy seasons in Uganda, storms roll in quickly. Clouds cover the sun, and rushing winds approach from the horizon. Palm trees sway like wheat in the field and raindrops sound like pins falling on top of the tin-roof shanty towns. These thunderstorms are no different from the storms I might experience in the United States, but in Gulu, Uganda, where I lived for 14 weeks of my HNGR Internship, storms meant darkness.
