Sweetchilango: A Subtle Dance of Sweet and Spice

The newest restaurant in downtown Wheaton, Sweetchilango, puts a modern spin on traditional Mexican street food.

The corner of West Front Street in Wheaton has historically been a cursed location for restaurants. First it was Muldoon’s Irish Pub, which was open for 17 years before closing its doors in 2019. Shortly after, Wheaton House: Kitchen & Tap, a pub-style eatery and bar, bought the property in 2020, before closing promptly in 2022 due to the pandemic. The most recent business, Yia Mas: A Taste of Greece, opened in 2022 and closed less than two years after opening.
