The atmosphere of a figure drawing class is a serious one. No phones, no talking, no looking at the clock. For both student and model, it is an intimate moment, charged by the artists’ focus and the model’s stillness. When the timer goes off to start, the model disrobes and all students in the room draw — and only draw — that model in the center of the room. When the timer signals the end of the session, the model puts their robe back on, and the energy of fresh art lingers in the air.
